Indirect Effects of the use
of the Microbial Solutions range of products:
Being soil inoculants,
Microbial Solutions’ products improve the quality of the soil regardless
of the crop being grown. It is common knowledge that anything planted in
good soils will grow well. The use of our product programs increase
microbial activity and organic carbon activity which
automatically:

Living Microbial
Products
Landbac®,
Waterbac® & Biostart®
·
Growth
stimulation - makes N & P available, and produces the growth
hormones auxins, gibberellins and cytokinins.
·
Disease
suppression - suppresses many common fungal root
diseases.
·
Soil pest
reduction – Biostart® has been shown to suppress nematode
eggs, juveniles and many insect larvae in the root
zone.
·
Best
co-applied with Genesis® Leonardite Humates (see below).
Seedbac®
·
Applied as a
seed dressing for additional plant enhancement.
·
Encompasses
all of the benefits of the Landbac®, Waterbac®
& Biostart® in terms of growth stimulation etc.
DPress®
·
Disease
suppression - naturally suppresses many common root and leaf fungal
pathogens.

All of Microbial Solutions’
microbial products can be co-applied with most fertilizers and
agricultural chemicals such as fungicides and herbicides. Consult your

The following photographs taken with an
electron-scanning microscope at the University of Potchefstroom clearly
show how Biostart® controls nematodes in the soil using a naturally
occurring bacterium.

The
wall of an untreated nematode egg is a thin, translucent soft
structure with a sufficiently high degree of elasticity to cling
to, and follow the contours of the nematode forming
inside. |

After
application, the bacteria in Biostart® colonise on the
egg secreting chitinase that harden the egg shell. Although the
nematode starts to form inside it is prohibited from
hatching. |
|
|
Finally,
some 15 to 17 days after of the Biostart® application,
the nematode egg disintegrates in the soil leaving just nutrients
behind. |

Please
note that as microbial soil inoculants Landbac®,

do not require registration under the Act 36 of 1947. However, as
Biostart®
is not registered as a chemical nematacide, and DPress®

registered as a chemical fungicide under
Act 36 of 1947, they may not be used as such.

Microbe Feeding
There is little point in
putting living microbes back into hostile soil conditions if there is
insufficient food for them to survive. In yet another first in microbial
soil technology, some 15 years ago Microbial Solutions (Pty) Ltd
pioneered the use of using root exudate mimics and organic carbon
additives to stimulate and feed our (and all other beneficial) microbes
in the soil.
Microboost Activators:
Microboost®
Activators are natural root exudate mimics that have over the last
11/2 decades proven to be highly successful in
soil microbial enhancement and bacterial colony sustainability. They
have also eliminated the unhealthy need for brewing microbes up under
questionable hygienic conditions in unsophisticated on-farm tanks.
Microboost®
“Classic” Activator, a carbohydrate/plant protein blend is used with
Landbac®, Waterbac®, and
DPress® formulas, whilst Microboost®
“Chitin Freeze”, a pure plant protein is used with Biostart®. All activators are in a totally soluble
powder form, and are supplied automatically in the correct usage
quantities together with the bacterial products at no extra
cost.
